Lexus took advantage of the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to debut its 2016 GS range of mid-luxury sedans. The automaker added a new GS 200t to the existing GS 350 and the hybrid 450h.
Also making its debut was the highly powerful GS F. The models come with an enhanced design meant to continue their excellent agility and sporty handling. Their performance and amenities make them a compromise for luxury seeking buyers as well as those looking for a good performing sedan.
2016 Lexus GS Exterior
The 2016 Lexus GS looks have been a hit among many enthusiasts. Therefore, it was highly unlikely for the automaker to change its exterior styling significantly.
The new models have only received a few modifications on its exterior appearance compared to the outgoing models. One such modification is the signature spindle grille which features in every Lexus model nowadays. The grille for the GS has been further enlarged. The vehicle also features a new front bumper which is integrated with larger air vents. The spindle grille is also flanked with redesigned Bi-LED headlights that look sharper.
On the rear, the automaker has only redesigned its taillights otherwise everything else remains similar to the outgoing model. The newly introduced 200t will ride on 17-inch 9-spoke alloy wheels while the rest ride on 18 and 19 inch machine-finish wheel designs.

Each trim has its own different engine. Lexus has introduced a new model which is the 2017 GS 200t RWD which is powered by a 2.0 L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Lexus has found a way of producing high-performing hybrids. In this case it is the 2016 Lexus GS 450 h. The vehicle uses the Lexus Hybrid Drive system which combines a 3.5 L Atkinson cycle V6 engine and a permanent-magnet electric motor which is water-cooled. The combination produces a total of 338 hp. The power is transferred via a planetar type CVT system.
The hybrid is very fast and achieves 0-60 mph acceleration in 5.9 seconds. It is offered in both FWD and AWD. The engine is EPA rated at 29mpg for city, 34 mpg on highway and 31 mpg on combined drives.

The GS F features an enlarged front bumper, distinctive quad exhaust pipes, an aggressive rear diffuser and sporty side skirts. On the inside, the GS F comes with an exclusive gauge cluster, grippy sports seats designed to hold the driver and passengers in place during sharp cornering and Alcantara accents.
Under the hood, the GS F packs plenty of power. It is fitted with a 5.0 L V8 engine borrowed from RC F. The engine comes good with 467 hp and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission system. Power is channelled to the rear wheels. For easier handling, the GS F is equipped with torque-vectoring differential and steering-wheel paddles for quick gear changes.
