The 2016 Scion FR-S is a sports car aimed at young buyers looking for stylish automobiles at an affordable price. The car which made its maiden debut in 2002 is produced through a joint venture with Subaru.
The new 2016 Scion FR-S however lacks the muscle and power associated with conventional sport cars but what it lacks in power it complements with good looks, magnificent steering and pleasant handling which add up to plenty of fun considering its friendly price.
2016 Scion FR-S Exterior
The vehicle draws its exterior design from classic Japanese sports car design. The FR-S flaunts a low, curvy and sleek design. It features an old-school long hood and short deck. The front features a wide grille opening and a lower fascia with sharp angled air vents.
The body is full of smooth curves that stretch to the hood and fenders. Its fenders are slightly flared up and stretch outwards from the hood line. At the sides, it features a simple profile where the roof sweeps up and dives in an elegant arc to meet redesigned rear fenders and a broad tail.
2016 Scion FR-S Interior
The interior of the FR-S is simple and business-like; it is a good blend of Toyota’s and Subaru’s features. The interior is more focused on the driving experience. However, compared to conventional sport cars, the interior feels a bit old school. The FR-S will be offered in a single trim level.
The interior will accommodate four passengers in a 2+2 seating layout. While the front seats are comfortable even for long distances and provide firm support during hard driving, the back seat features minimal legroom and headroom. Its trunk size is also very small at only 6.9 cubic feet but it can be expanded by folding the rear seat. The driver’s seat is height adjustable. The interior also features a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel wrapped in leather.
For entertainment, the vehicle features an updated7-inch touchscreen-based audio system with a choice for a BeSpoke system which is integrated with Smartphone apps and navigation system. Other features include air conditioning, cruise control, rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, full-power accessories, automatic headlights, voice recognition, Aha radio, HD radio, USB interface and an auxiliary audio jack.
For safety, the 2016 Scion FR-S is hooked up with stability and traction control, antilock brakes, front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.
Engine Specs and Performance
