The 2016 Scion iA is set to replace the Mazda 2 in the US. Actually Mazda has confirmed that the Mazda 2 won’t be sold in the US, this is after posting disappointing sales volume. But the Toyota’s Scion division has decided to test the waters.

2016 Scion iA Exterior
Except for a few changes, the impact of Mazda’s 2 design styling is present all over its body. The Scion iA measures 171.7 inches long, 66.7 inches wide and stands at 58.5 inches. It has a wheelbase of 101.2 inches and a ground clearance of 5.5 inches. The 4-door sedan features a hostile front fascia and new headlights which are among the few new features different from the Mazda 2.

For entertainment, the vehicle features a 7-inch touch-screen whose controls have been mounted at the center console. Though the auto maker terms the new 2016 Scion iA a sport sedan, It fails to back up this claim where it matters the most i.e. under the hood. It comes with a 1.5 L 4-cylinder power-plant. This engine is capable of producing 106 hp with 103 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and a six-speed automatic transmission system as an option.
In terms of fuel consumption, the new Scion iA 2016 delivers estimated ratings of 33 mpg , 42 mpg and 37 mpg for city , highway when paired with the automatic transmission system while when connected with a manual gearbox, the engine delivers 31 mpg, 41 mpg and 35 mpg for city, highway and combined drives respectively.
Price and release date
Entering into a joint venture with Mazda has enabled Scion to come up with the stylish efficient and affordable subcompact sedan within a short time meaning fans will see it in dealer showrooms very soon. According to the automaker, the vehicle will hit showrooms this fall.
