After a 3-year hiatus, Toyota is set to bring back the aggressive-looking FJ Cruiser. The 2017 Toyota FJ Cruiser is an SUV dressed in a vintage body and offers an awesome off-road capability at an affordable price. Before the temporary hiatus, the FJ Cruiser failed to elicit much enthusiasm in the market. Toyota seeks to get things right with the second attempt. Though it wears a classic exterior body, Toyota has decided to hook it up with contemporary features that the first generation missed which could be one of the reasons for its slow uptake in the market. To entice the younger generation of buyers, Toyota has altered the exterior design of the car. The result is an off-road beast for adventurous individuals who love spending their time in the wilderness tackling rocky, sandy and muddy terrain. The model has a hard and sturdy structure, which makes it safe yet dynamic because its construction has utilized special materials. Overall, the model has a boxy structure and is available in a wide variety of exterior colors.
At the front, the model features a square chrome grille that features honeycomb-like air vents. Flanking the grille are new circular headlights that use LED lighting. The bumper is also integrated with new fog lights. At the flanks, the rear doors open backward. There are also retro-styled side mirrors. The classic-looking SUV rides on 17-inch wheels with an attractive design meant to attract the young buyers. The model also comes with a spare wheel cover at the rear where a rearview camera is hidden. The model also feature a flip up tailgate window at the rear.

The engine will be paired with a 6-speed automatic system that channels power to all wheels. A tweaked version of this engine will also be offered with a capability of generating 280 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque. Buyers will have an option for RWD.
There will be another mill for those looking for more power in their off-road machine. The probable engine is a 4.0 L, V-6 DOHV connected to a supercharger. This unit is estimated to produce 320 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
Price and release date
According to credible sources, the 2017 Toyota FJ Cruiser will be available for sale in this first quarter of 2017. The base model will have an MSRP of $39,990.
