2016 Lexus CT 200h

The Lexus CT is the smallest and cheapest Lexus model. It is targeted to younger buyers looking to acquire a Lexus for the first time. The compact hatchback is offered only as a hybrid.

It is actually the only luxury hybrid hatchback in the market currently but will soon face competition from Audi which is soon to launch its A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid.


2016 Lexus CT 200h Exterior

The 2016 Lexus CT 200h features few changes to its exterior profile compared to the outgoing model. One of the most notable changes is the new chrome surround on the signature “spindle grille’ that is now a common feature across all Lexus models.  The grille is flanked by automatic on/off halogen headlights that are integrated with LED daytime running lights.

The five-door hatchback  features an excellent blend of Lexus’s L-finesse design language which includes smoothly curved lines, arced back thick pillars, slab sides and a low roof design. The rear window wraps around into the rear pillars resulting in a remarkably new appearance.

The rear also features thin and pointed taillights that give the vehicle an extended look. Still at the rear, the vehicle features a long spoiler which extends the roof line over it short tailgate.  Other exterior features include power adjustable and heated side mirrors which are integrated with turn signals and tinted windows. The F-Sport adds an Obsidian black roof, LED headlights and fog lights and a larger rear spoiler which features aerodynamic cutouts.

The 2016 Lexus CT 200h comes in odd color options which are Matador Red Mica, Daybreak Yellow Mica, Starfire Pearl and Tungsten Pearl shade which join the traditional silver charcoal and black luxury colors. The CT will run on 17-inch alloy wheels.


2016 Lexus CT 200h Interior

The 2016 Lexus CT 200h is offered in two trims, the Base and the CT 200h F-Sport. Inside, the cabin will accommodate five passengers. The interior features a more simple and straightforward dashboard. It has a luxurious 2-tone interior trim that features adventurous combinations of bamboo, black wood, burl or even silver metal trim.

The front features bolstered sport seats that are well positioned to achieve a low center of gravity  and to provide optimal support as well as a dynamic driving experience. All seats have height adjustable headrests. The rear has a 60/40 split-folding capability to allow expansion of the cargo space. Other standard features include keyless ignition, SiriusXM satellite radio premium NuLuxe synthetic upholstery and a Drive Mode Select feature.


The Luxury package adds perforated, power-adjustable and heated leather seats, a HomeLink garage door opener among other upgrades. The navigation package on the other hand adds the Lexus Enform telematics, Bluetooth-enabled premium audio system and a navigation system. The Display Audio Package comes with Smartphone compatibility in addition to most of the Navigation Package features. Standalone options include the automaker’s Pre-collision system and a moon-roof. The F-Sport adds an ergonomic steering wheel which is wrapped in perforated leather, aluminum pedals and racing-inspired instrumentation and styling.

Engine Specs and Performance

Powering the 2016 Lexus CT 200h is a carryover engine from the 2015 model. It is a 1.8 L, 4-cylinder unit which produces 98 hp. This gasoline engine is paired with Toyota’s 2-motor Hybrid Synergy Drive system to produce a total of 134 hp. The motor can drive the vehicle alone for around 25 miles under light loads and low speed. The motor is backed by a 1.4 kWh nickel-metal-hybride battery pack.

The vehicle has an ‘EV’ mode that drives the car until the battery is depleted. The battery is recharged through engine overrun and regenerative braking.  The stored power is returned as supplemental torque as well as to reduce amount of petrol burned.

The engine is EPA rated at 43 mpg, 40 mpg and 42 mpg for city, highway and town drives respectively. The engine pushes the car to make the 0-60 mph run in a slow 9 seconds.


Price and release date

The Base CT 200h has a starting price of $ 32,200 which can go as high as $ 38,000 for a well quipped Base model.

The CT 200h F-Sport has an MSRP of $ 33,930, a figure which goes as high as $ 40,000 with the options and packages. The new 2016 Lexus CT 200h is already in showrooms and expects its customers.
