2016 Toyota Verso

Best family cars are usually pricey SUVs and MPVs in the market. However, not every family can afford such prices. To satisfy the needs of those who cannot afford such vehicles, Toyota designed the 2016 Toyota Verso to serve as a compact MPV while offering abundant safety, comfort and reliability to customers.

Since its first unveiling in 2009, the vehicle has been touted as one of the safest NCAP accredited MPV automobiles in the motoring industry.

2016 Toyota Verso Exterior

There are three trim levels: Live, Active + and Lounge. The exterior features several new modifications though it is easily recognizable. The new model features sharp lines and soft curves all over its body. At the front fascia, the 2016 Toyota Verso features a dual bumper design. The front also features chrome touches on the upper and lower grille with integrated LED headlamps; higher trim levels will feature Xenon headlights and LED fog lights. The license plate area has a piano black chrome finish.

The new Verso will also have electric wing mirrors. Buyers will have a choice between 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels. The model will also be equipped with small side mirrors to reduce wind noise.



2016 Toyota Verso Interior

The 2016 Toyota Verso will be offered in 3 trim levels which will be Active, Icon and Excel trim levels. The interior of this car is specifically designed to provide comfort to families during trips. Due to this, Toyota has designed a pleasant interior with standard features.

The 2016 Toyota Verso will accommodate seven passengers spread among three rows; however, there are rumors that the base model will have an option for a five seats for smaller families. The seats feature fine leather upholstery which provides maximum comfort to occupants, they are also heated.


The cargo space is adequate and can be extended by folding the rear seats to accommodate large cargo. For entertainment purposes, the 2016 Toyota Taurus comes with Toyota Touch 2 Multimedia system, a HD radio, a 4-speaker audio system; higher trim levels will have a 6-speaker audio system.

The vehicle also features an air conditioning system to ensure temperatures are ideal in the cabin. Other features will include Bluetooth connectivity, , cruise control. For safety and handling, the vehicle will feature enhanced seat belts, a package of airbags and a number of driving aides.

Engine Specs and Performance

According to the latest reports, the 2016 Toyota Verso will feature a new 1.6 L 16V  inline 4 power-plant. This engine will have a capability to produce 132 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque.  New Verso with this engine will accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-100 km / h) in 11.7 seconds and will reach the top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h).

It will also be offered 1.6 D diesel engine with 112 hp and 270 Nm of Torque and stronger gasoline 1.8L with 147 hp and 168 Nm of Torque. We have also learnt that this model will feature other engine options in future meant to surpass the 140 hp output.

The engine delivers EPA fuel ratings of 45 mpg in combined drive mode. The engine will be mated with a CVT transmission system as well as a 6-speed manual gearbox.


Price and release date

According to credible reports, the vehicle will be released to dealerships before the end of this year. The starting price for the base model will be around $ 26,000 while the higher trim models will cost around $ 45,000.

Competitors will include new models of the Citroen Grand Picasso C4, Vauxhall Opel Zafira and Ford S-Max.
