Just before the excitement is over with the 2015 Toyota Yaris, Toyota has indicated that it will soon release the 2016 model going by the name 2016 Toyota Yaris. The new car will be an improvement of the current model.
Exterior of new Toyota Yaris 2016
Toyota has gone with a new look that is bolder and sharper for the new 2016 Toyota Yaris. The car which will be offered in either three or five door versions, also as a hatchback and sedan versions, will feature few exterior changes compared to the predecessor model. The hood has been redesigned; it will also have a new grille and a new and bolder bumper. LED headlights and taillights remain but the manufacturer has introduced new fog lights on the car’s front bumpers. The premium trim level will feature chrome details on its exterior. Some analysts argue that this model has borrowed much from the Mazda 2. They in fact argue that if you take off the front fascia and headlights, the new Yaris becomes a Mazda 2. In fact, the smallest Mazda sedan won’t be offered in North America, motorists there can turn to this new Toyota Yaris as a replacement.
2016 Toyota Yaris Interior
The cabin has sporty highlights beginning with the 3-pod gauge cluster and 3-spoke steering wheel. It also comes with a center display screen that displays necessary car info. The seats will feature soft touch materials and will be covered with leather. The interior will also feature a standard Entune audio system, a 7 inch touch screen, HD radio and advanced connectivity features such as Bluetooth and USB to integrate Smartphone connectivity. The standard model will also come with keyless entry and power windows. Higher trim level variants will have additional features such as navigation system and cruise control. The car will also have increased cargo space at the back of the folding rear seats.
Engine, Specs and Performance
The manufacturer has not changed the engine of the new model; the auto maker still retains the unit in the 2015 model. This unit is a 1.5 L 4-inline engine with VVt-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology. The engine will produce around 106 hp with 103 lb-ft of torque. Motorists will have a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission system. The car which will be offered in FWD mode is expected to have a better fuel economy of about 30 mpg for city drive and 37 mpg on the highway.
Release date and price
Toyota has not released any official information regarding the 2016 Toyota Yaris release date or price. However, auto analysts predict that the new Yaris could hit showrooms as early as the last quarter of 2015 or in early 2016. They also predict the price to increase slightly from the 2015 model. The base model is expected to cost around $ 15,000 while for the premium trim level; motorists will have to part with around $ 20,000.
The car will face competition from Chevrolet Sonic Turo and Honda Fit which have more output but the Yaris beats them on fuel economy. Twin brother of the new Yaris 2016 is 2016 Scion iA.
