2017 Lexus LC

Remember the spectacular LF-LC Concept car showcased in the 2012 Detroit Motor Show? Well, our spies have spotted a testing mule of its production car.

The vehicle will shed off its LF initials which stand for Lexus Future to signify a concept vehicle and go with the LC name tag in accordance to the automaker’s new nomenclature. From the spy shots, we can tell that the vehicle has adopted the styling cues of the concept but with a bit of toning down for practical reasons. The model comes as a luxury coupe with a sporty profile influenced by the LFA supercar.

2017 Lexus LC Exterior

It is not clear which platform the sports coupe is based on but we understand it is new and will utilize lightweight materials. The prototype we captured testing is definitely a stylish, sporty coupe with dimensions similar to the LF-LC.

Though under heavy camouflage, we can see what looks like the signature spindle grille, sharp headlights that make it look stunning and cool-looking L-shaped taillights at the rear that seem to stretch into its rear bumper. The hood will be tweaked to make it look more conventional. It will also ride on smaller wheels than those on the concept car.

The back fender will feature air intakes and wider mirrors than the concept. Overall, the vehicle will be highly aerodynamic which will improve its fuel economy as well as increase its performance.

2017 Lexus LC Interior

At this moment, the interior is a wild guess as the automaker has kept the specs a closely guarded secret. The existing LF-LC concept interior falls short of the standards needed to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and Porsche 911.

Though some of the concept styling cues might make it to production, Lexus interior designers must furbish the LC cabin with top-notch materials. This means features like special leather seats, authentic wood veneers, leather covers on the dashboard and door panels as well as on the steering wheel will be incorporated. The cabin accommodates four passengers since the LC is a 2+2 sport coupe.

In terms of technology, the LC will be equipped with the best features including;  a HD touch-screen with integrated navigation and storage options (some rumors claim that the cabin features two 12.3-inch LCD screens, one for navigation and the other for the meter cluster). The vehicle will feature the very best connectivity options, as well as the Lexus Enform system.

The vehicle will also feature the best safety features and driving aids with most offered as standard. A premium audio system will also be offered as standard among many other premium features synonymous with luxury coupes of this stature.

Engine Specs

As of this writing we have no official information on the drive-train that Lexus will place under the hood of the 2017 Lexus LC. However there are rumors of two possible units. The entry level model will feature a 5.0 L V8 engine that is capable of producing 475 hp. The unit will spin the rear wheels via the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission system.

The more expensive option will be powered by a plug-in hybrid power-train. This drive train will combine a V8 gasoline engine with an electric motor to produce a combined output of over 500 hp. There are also rumors of a LC F variant at a later date which will come spitting over 600 hp from a modified, twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

Price and release date

The automaker is yet to announce official release date or price for the 2017 Lexus LC. However, there is a strong indication that the Japanese automaker will debut a production model at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

The models will then be availed to dealerships later on in the second half of 2016. In terms of price, expect the model to have a starting price around $ 100,000 and go up to even $ 200,000.
