The time has come to introduce a new 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid sedan. The Toyota Camry occupies a very special spot in the “heart” of Toyota. The model is one of the most successful Toyota models especially in the U.S. Last year alone, the model sold over 400,000 units in the states. Many people love the car due to its excellent fuel economy, reliability and affordability. Many use it as a family vehicle which readily doubles up as a business sedan. The introduction of the hybrid version made the Camry even more endearing. Now, stay-at-home mothers can use the car to rush to the grocery store and drive their kids to and from school without using much gasoline.
Toyota is refreshing the Camry lineup to make it look more modern and to entice new customers. Toyota will only make subtle upgrades on the exterior as the current design is a hit in the market and the automaker is not going to tamper with its “cash cow”. Therefore, most of the changes are just visual and improvements in the tech department. The model is offered in 4 trim levels i.e. SE, LE, XSE and XLE. The hybrids are offered on SE, LE and XSE trims.
2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Exterior
The exterior of Camry hybrids is identical to that of conventional models. In addition, Toyota has not altered the exterior look. The vehicle is based on the TNGA platform which has resulted in a significant decrease in weight.
The new 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid will be slightly longer by about two inches meaning there will be an expanded spacious cabin. To start with, the front fascia gets a sport mesh grille which is flanked by LED headlights and LED DRLs. The vehicle also features a piano-back sport lower grille. The sedan will also feature a sport-tuned suspension and will ride on a set of 17-inch alloys. There will be an option for 18-inch and 19-inch alloys for higher trims.
A moonroof will be offered as an option for SE and XSE trims. At the rear, the 4-door sedan features chromed dual exhaust tips which enhance the rear look. The rear will also feature LED taillights and a revised bumper. The exterior is offered in a wide range of colors to ensure every customer gets his/her favorite choice.
2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid Interior
The cabin is comfortable and provides a certain level of luxury. Due to the slightly longer platform, the vehicle which accommodates five passengers will have an improved legroom particularly for rear passengers. The seats on the base model are upholstered in a quality cloth with an option for leather upholstery in higher trims. The front seats are heated and are 8-way power adjustable.
In front of the driver will be a multi-informational display. There is also another screen display mounted on the center console for the vehicle’s navigation and entertainment system. The vehicle also features a tilt and telescoping steering wheel. The cockpit is a bit uncluttered, as more functions will be controlled via the new touch-screen.
Latest technologies are also featured such as Wi-Fi, USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity while for convenience; the vehicle comes with a number of bottle holders and an automatic air conditioning system. For entertainment, the car comes with a quality sound system with FM/AM radio, a DVD player and internet radio.
For safety, the Camry hybrid features stability and traction control, ABS, 10 airbags and a host of driving aids such as lane-keep alert, lane-change alert, blind spot monitoring, auto high beams, a pre-collision warning system and a rear cross traffic alert. Other safety features include a smart stop technology and an electronic brake-force distribution system.
Engine Specs and performance
According to our credible sources, the Camry hybrid will be offered on LE, SE and SLE trim levels. We also understand that the hybrid drive-train will feature a new Synergy Hybrid system. The system will feature a 2.5 L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine which will combine with a powerful electric motor.
The electric motor is backed by a Nickel-Metal Hydride battery pack which is mounted behind the rear seats just before the trunk. Although actual output figures have not been released, the combination will deliver around 178 hp. The vehicle is expected to return 43 mpg in city, 39 mpg on highway and 41 mpg on combined drives. The engine is mated to a 6-speed CVT transmission system; a 6-speed manual gearbox is also available as an option.
